Month 2 | Protective Style Challenge Update

Month 2 was a bit challenging for me to wear my protective styles because I love to change my hairstyles on a regular basis and I often miss touching my actual hair. I know the purpose of this challenge is to protect my hair, even from my hands, so I have to get better about wearing twists (pulled back), faux puffs and wigs. Initially with this challenge I wanted to wear wigs 5 days out of the week but my hair does not thrive when it is completely covered for that long period of time. Instead, I will change it up throughout the week and wear wigs 2 or 3 days out of the week and my faux puff the other days. I have noticed my hair seems to become drier and stiffer if I continuously wear a wig for 5 straight days. It is just too much on my hair. I have also noticed that my scalp itches like crazy if I do small twists. If I do medium to jumbo-sized twits, my scalp does not itch at all so I am limited in the size of twists I am able to do for this challenge. I guess the plus side is that I can still wear twists at a protective style.

I am still moisturizing and sealing my hair every single day and my hair is so much happier because of this important step in my hair care regimen. My hair has become much softer and easier to manage that I have not found the need to do the Greenhouse Effect lately. I still support doing it but my hair has seemed to do fine without it. Now, if my hair ever becomes excessively dry again (hopefully it will not) I will be the first to grab my Greenhouse Effect supplies and get started on it. Me faithfully moisturizing and sealing daily has helped my hair tremendously!

So far I am really pleased with the results I am getting from my Fall and Winter Protective Style Challenge. I have noticed my hair is slowly becoming thicker and stronger. I have changed up the products that I use but I also believe this challenge has helped my hair (and scalp) a great deal; they are both a lot healthier. I have less than 3 months before this challenge is over and I definitely plan on giving my all so my hair and scalp can get the best results!
