So it has been a few months now since I have completed my Fall and Winter Protective Style Challenge. With this challenge I was pretty much forced to keep my hands out of my hair. And for me, that is a good thing because I am always touching my hair to see if it has grown, how thick it feels and just because I have a bad habit of putting my hands in my hair. Lately, I feel like I have become obsessed with the texture of my hair. Since I wore wigs most days out the week for this challenge, my hair was not manipulated too much on a daily basis. I simply had to moisture and seal my hair in the morning and do scalp massages at night. And of course, I had to twist or braid my hair weekly. I also did the Greenhouse Effect every now and then to help moisturize and manage my hair. And I allowed myself a few days to enjoy my hair out in a 'fro or a twist out.
At the end of the challenge I noticed that my hair became a lot healthier!!! My strands now feel thicker and even the look of my hair changed; my hair looks more alive! I even learned to appreciate and be more patient with my hair. I am not going to say the challenge was easy and that I did everything to a 'T' but from what I did, my hair has benefited so much! I am glad I challenged myself to 6 months of protective styling and low manipulation and I definitely look forward to doing it again once it starts to cool down.
